That time we found some pirate caves

Okay so maybe they weren’t pirate caves…

9 hours on a boat is a long time, especially when it’s to dark outside to stare at all the other islands, but we finally made it to Milos (late)

Our apartment was Adamantas, the main port town, and we spent the morning after arriving exploring.

Plaka
We stopped just outside of here to visit the catacombs. My advice is if you’ve been to the ones in Paris, don’t bother. There’s really not that much to see. There’s also an ancient theatre and the discovery site of the Venus de Milo nearby.
From the castle ruins in Plaka you have amazing views of the whole island.

We argued if this was a church or house at the top of the hill. I won, it was a house

Sarakiniko beach
The #2 rated place in Milos on trip advisor. Chalk white rocks, blue seas and a sunken pirate ship?

Okay so maybe not a pirate ship, but with my teacher hat on and the caves nearby I came up with some fantastic story starters.
There is little shade here and the buses were very infrequent so after arriving at 12 the chance of us getting burnt was high. Thank goodness we remembered to slip, slop, slap and wrap!

Pollonia
We spent our last morning here and I was gutted I left my swimsuit at home, the water looked amazing. All the right shades of blues and greens.

Pirate caves maybe!?
Pirate caves maybe!?

We just wandered around here with little idea if what we wanted to see but you can catch a boat to one of the two smaller islands if you wanted.

And so ended our Greece leg of this trip… Next up Montenegro, but not before two days travelling to get there!

After Croatia we’re thinking of heading off to Bosnia and Herzegovina, any tips or places you’d recommend?
